4th of July and 7th Anniversary

The boys had tons of cultural experiences on the 4th of July--their first one in America.  We saw a parade, with floats and tons of interesting things passing.
They were happy to learn that parades included people throwing candy at them.  Just looking around at all the people and seeing what they wear, what kind of strollers they had and the various tents for shade was a lot of "America" at once for us to take in.
Malachi wanted to decorate his bike for a parade too!
That afternoon at Sarah's house the cousins had their own 4th of July parade.  So fun!
Sisters!  We were so happy to see each other many times while we were based in Omaha.  I love you, S!

The 4 younger kids sit in a row while Uncle John explains safety for sparklers.  It was our boys' first time to see fireworks or anything like it.
Malachi looks serious with his sparkler!
Here's a random photo from my sister retreat with Sarah--overwhelmed in the swimming suit section of a department store!  Are there really this many choices and size options!?  Amazing!  Of course it was easy for me to find something with all those choices available.
Nate and I were so blessed to get an overnight for our 7th anniversary.  I totally recommend this place in Kansas "Circle S Ranch".  We stayed in the "Blue and White room" of a bed and breakfast in the middle of nowhere.
It was our first anniversary to have no seminary night class (1st and 2nd), no newborn babies (3rd and 6th), not pregnant (4th) and not nursing (5th).  Just the 2 of us together!  Very romantic!
To add to the blessing, we happened to be the only ones staying there that Tuesday night (July 10th), so we had the place to ourselves!!  Thank you, Lord!

Delicious breakfast out on the peaceful porch.
One of our last nights in Nebraska, I was thankful to spend with some of my faithful life-long friends.  Between all of us we had 15 kids, so it was quite a thing for us to be able to eat a meal together.  Plus, I hadn't seen some of them in years, so it was very special.
I love you, friends!  Molly, Cara, Andrea, Thea, and me!
Biking by the Missouri river with our boys' cousins.  So many cool trailers for bikes in America.
 Cousins feeding ducks downtown Omaha.
Clara and Malachi love the butterflies at the zoo!

Good-bye, Omaha. Good-bye family. I will miss you, but I am thankful for the time we had there!  Now we are on to Ohio and Pennsylvania!

Thanks so much for the blogs and photos! It is wonderful to see not only the awesome and refreshing time you've been having but also so many people and places that are also dear to my heart. May the rest of your furlough be just as full of grace!
