Corregidor Island

Isn't the Philippines great?!

On the boats going to Corregidor Island.

Can you imagine such a "field trip" in middle school? These students are blessed.

The tunnel on Corregidor where the soldiers hid and did communications and other cool things.

You get the feeling of the war going through there. This island was strategic in the Manila bay.

Hannah is so creative and fun--I love seeing her poses in pictures (see also cannon pic below).

My honey: "I miss you, babe! I'm coming home to you soon!"

Mr. Becker leads his students on the island tour--lots of big cannons. I bet the soldiers of that time never imagined this would be a lovely place to pose for 8th grade students one day.

Just look at these ruins--you can feel the war--the memory.

I love to see the Philippine flag there in the trees. This place was pretty well preserved--no one really lives on the island today (maybe there's a house, I never saw one).

Students slept on the open grass, wind blowing and cozy in sleeping bags.

Black sand beaches.

What a beautiful place. Also very peaceful.
