Roamin' Through Romans

We praise God that the musical was successful! Everything went as planned, and the kids did just what we taught them to do! Praise the Lord!
The kids taught the gospel message through song and drama. They learned lots of verses from Romans.
The lead cast did a great job showing what it means to be a Christian and also how to accept Christ for the first time. The boy in green accepted Christ in the musical.
Here is Nate directing with all his energy. God truly has gifted this husband of mine!
The three Korean girls did a dance that I choreographed. It turned out beautiful. True worship to God!

Thank you for praying for us! Sorry the pictures are delayed, but I don't have a camera anymore so I had to get copies from someone before posting. Praise the Lord that many kids came and heard the gospel and that our students also learned about Jesus.

Dress Rehearsal Time

This week we have been busy getting ready for the musical this Friday night. Yesterday we had a dress rehearsal during school--it was exciting to see everything start to come together!

Mr. Becker does an excellent job directing the kids and communicating with the elementary teachers. We praise God for giving him such vision and energy.

We also have a great cast of kids (along with two high school students). Pray that they will all be healthy and remember their lines. Pray that God will use them to communicate the gospel message through drama.

We are so glad we had a lot of help also with the artistic side of things. We gave the ladies the vision and they worked so hard to create a set and props.

Please pray for us when it is Friday morning on the Western Hemisphere, because it will be 6:30 p.m. for us as we present this musical. Thank you for praying for us!

Join Us In Thailand and Cambodia!

We're back from Thailand and Cambodia and we want to share our photo adventures with you.

Cambodian Commute

Here we are in the village on the lake. Look at all those dried fish behind us! And all the houses are on stilts in the water.
I love to see the laundry hanging and how they live their everyday lives.
Can you spot the white woman? I was drowning in kids as we waited for our flat tire to get a change. Even without language it was easy to connect with the women and children.
This is how the Cambodians commute home. How gentle and peaceful! I love riding bikes. It was fun to say hello to them all in the Khmer language and to see them smile back at me.
Good-bye Cambodia. I loved our visit and I love your people. I miss you already!

Out in the Tonle Sap

I love Cambodians!
What a place. So many boats--who doesn't like boats?!
This place was photographer's heaven. If only you could see all the other pictures I took!
Nate and I both loved the place. Look at this village on stilts out in the middle of nowhere. This may very well be the ends of the earth.

To the Ends of the Earth

We took a Tuk-Tuk to one town. Then we hopped on two motorcycles (with two drivers) and drove through the desert-like floor of the Tonle Sap lake. It was a dream day!
Can you see the Cambodian people out there in the rice fields. So many of them to be reached!
Beautiful children. So precious in His sight. I love them!
No matter how far we went we saw signs for "Cambodian People's Party." If only all these places were churches.
All the houses on stilts so during the wet season the water rises to their houses.

Khmer Kids

Here are the precious Khmer kids that we visited in the rural area. They greeted us when we arrived and did everything we asked them to--sing, sit, listen, play.
They loved listening to me share my testimony. Pray for these kids to know Jesus!
They are so happy to be with us and eager to learn.
Nate is so good with the kids and loves to make them laugh. They copied him as he led. Praise God we got to go to this village to visit the kids!

Angkor Wat

We biked again before 5am to reach Angkor Wat at sunrise. So many tourists were waiting for the glorious sun to rise. Nate said, "Keep taking pictures--I think there's going to be some kind of eclipse there's so many people with their cameras ready!"
What fun to climb the narrow stairs (which they would never let you do in the U.S.). We played a bit of hide-and-seek inside the maze of Angkor Wat.
This one is Framable! Look at how I got the reflection. Classic!
Now with blue skies we timed a photo off a very teensy edge. We found a back view with no tourists in sight. Yay! I love being here with my Nate.
Such steep stairs. Yikes!

Ta Prohm Ruins

This isn't actually Ta Prohm, but it looks like it with the trees growing out of the ruins. Can you see me there on the steps? Fun to explore, but be careful!
There were tons of these images and other carvings in stone. So many fun photo ops.
Best friends discover each other at the ruins.
And this is Ta Prohm--trees trying to overtake the ancient buildings. This place was hidden by jungle until recent decades.
And of course the precious children. They are the sales people, and very good at it too. Instead of ignoring them we decided to ask them their names. They are easy to befriend. (Do they know Jesus? Will some of us go tell them?)

Phnom Bakheng and Angkor Thom

We rode bikes 10 kilometers to visit the ancient ruins of the Khmer empire. We got there near sunrise so it was still cool. Here is Phnom Bakheng, a temple on a hill.
We were the only ones there, so it felt like we had discovered it. Are we actually here? Unbelievable.
What a fun place to bike! I hope everyone can try this. It is too wonderful.
Biking through the entrance of Angkor Thom. We climed the hill and biked on top of the wall around the moat thus avoiding the many Japanese tourists.
Nate started chatting with a Cambodian man. He wanted to practice his English with us.

Cambodia Adventures Begin!

See below for one post out of order. It tells of our border crossing experience. This is a picture basically showing what our crazy four hour taxi ride was like into Siem Reap. The road was dusty, wide, bumpy and crazy! We survived but were glad our moms did not know we were there at the time!
I loved the sights of Cambodia! I cannot believe we are here!! What a dream come true.
I LOVE the Khmer people! They all ride bikes and carry so much stuff. They also wear these red and white checked cloths on their heads. I almost cried when I saw the Cambodian people. I had been praying for them so long and now I am seeing them!

Conference Days

Everyday we wore our name badges and soaked in all that we could learn. Nate especially loved the Orff workshops.
I got myself a lovely Thai silk skirt. Nate and I love the Wai greeting "Swadee-ka". Do we look Thai?
One night they treated us to a lovely dinner accompanied by traditional Thai instruments.
They also had some Thai dancers in costume perform for us.
