August 13-20 Nate and I left our older 2 boys with Grandma and Grandpa Becker, our longest apart from them as 2 parents. Luke was a peaceful guy, who wouldn't want to be left behind. We had our map quest print-outs and had finally coordinated with just about everyone we would visit.
First stop--New York City! If you read my previous post, you'll see we are staying in a small town. Amazing the contrast you can see in one day!
Taxis and bridges--I was sorry Elijah had to miss this. He would have loved it!

Well, all except for the traffic, of course.
The housing is so interesting in Brooklyn! This is where our partner and friend lived. What a wonderful first stop! I left most of the personal photos out of this post since I'm not sure which of our friends would mind or not mind. We were so thankful for our overnight here!
One thing I noticed in America is how patriotic people are. The flag is proudly displayed in many front entrances, just like this one in the flower box. This street looked just like Sesame street!
We had a brief stretching time before our drive back to PA the next morning. Nate just drove around never finding a place to park (that was less than $27/hour!). When the other boys saw this pic, they asked, "Where is Mama?" It does look kind of like I left Luke on the streets of New York alone. He is looking back at me (taking the picture) wondering the same thing! Don't worry, Mama is here!
After a lovely evening visit with Nate's uncle and aunt in another small town, PA (whom I had never met before), we stayed with some of the most wonderful people in the world. I also cannot include their photo here, but you know who you are! Thank you again! A quick stop in DC...Luke's first time there. Fun to have breakfast with our friends just blocks from the Pentagon at sunrise!
On to Richmond, Virginia! Isn't this place just a postcard? The housing is so interesting to me. I can't wait to get back to the Philippines and show Emi all the different kinds of places people live. What a variety.
Here's another American flag proudly displayed. This stands out to me, because I have never seen any Philippine flags flying at anyone's house that I can recall.
Nate preached with Luke on his back. I'm sure the folks will always remember that strange thing!
This is a cool picture because it is of Nate preaching in the same church where his parents pastored when he was born! Nate was actually born deaf, and when the elders and pastor prayed for us before we spoke they mentioned how they remember when Nate was a little boy just like our little Luke, and how they praised God that Nate was miraculously healed! It was cool as a wife to hear their testimony and to see my little boy crawling around the same floors that baby Nate probably crawled on many times.
Here's Luke, about the same age as Nate was in this same place. I wonder if Nate played on this same toy as a baby! How fun to be back there as adults. I told the people that maybe someday Luke will be the preacher and will carry his son in a backpack!
Thank you, Lord, for a wonderful week. Thank you, friends, for all your hospitality and love! Thank you, Mom and Dad, for watching E and M so wonderfully! Now just a few more weeks until we relocate to Indianapolis! Thanks for your prayers for us as we continue to declare God's glory!
