Exam Day AND Concert Day

Today was a big day (and still is!). We had chapel this morning, then a dress rehearsal with the middle school. After that I gave my New Testament final exam for 90 minutes. I walked around the room answering questions and making sure the needs of the students were met. I got nervous just watching them working so intensely, but I prayed that God's word would be sinking into their hearts as they used it to take the exam. I will be grading them all day tomorrow!

I remember when I was in 9th grade my math teacher, Mrs. Lund, gave us each a jolly rancher on our desk and told us to eat it when we get stuck on the test. Ever since then I have used that reward system for myself on tests. Now I am passing it on to my students. I gave them each three hershey kisses, and I told them when they get done a section or get stuck they can eat one and suddenly they have a burst of energy. They were encouraged! I liked watching Chris unwrap one right in the middle of the exam; he sat back and ate it in three separate nibbles just to make it last!

Tonight Nate and I will be co-directing the high school and middle-school choirs. We are so excited and nervous! I'm sure you are mostly all sleeping at the moment on the other side of the world, so I won't ask you to pray because it will be over once you read this! We'll post pictures once we can. We pray that it will glorify God!

a 90 minute test?! Yipes! But I'm sure your students were well prepared by their awesome teacher, and were proud to show off all their knowledge. God will guard each truth in their hearts and bring it to mind when needed. I wish I could attend your concerts! Luffya, Mums

Yes, candy works well for tests. You should see our kids at the Proficiency Test week. They have all kinds of food. gum, and mints. They say mints help some part of the brain. The food helps the kids not feel so stressed! Yes, the worst part of giving a test is grading it! I always tell my kids that I have homework too!
